The law requires that all food handlers need to be trained according to their food handling work activities. Should an employee achieve a food safety qualification, which is suitable for the work they do, it will assist food business operators in proving that they have displayed due diligence and are therefore compliant in the eyes of the law. This qualification is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry (or those about to start work in the industry). Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food.The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) is accredited and has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.
Content
A range of subjects are covered which include:
- Understand how individuals can take personal responsibility for food safety
- Understand the importance of food handlers keeping themselves clean and hygienic
- Understand the importance of keeping work areas clean and hygienic
- Identify the importance of keeping food products safe

Numbers
20 students can be accommodated on this course. There are no prerequisites for this qualification. It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths or equivalent.Assessment & Certification
